Commissions & payouts

Track your commissions. Estimate your cash flow.

A commission ledger that tracks posted and expected commissions by carrier and product, rolls them up month-to-date and year-to-date, and estimates the next 30 days from the policies already on your book. Track each payout from write to deposit.

Commissions. Illustrative sample data. Not actual carrier rates, products or ratings.

The ledger

Every commission, posted and expected, in one ledger.

Nest keeps a single ledger of commissions broken out by carrier and product. Posted lines are what you have recorded as received; expected lines are estimates of what the book suggests is still owed. You read both in the same view, and you still verify against carrier statements.

  • Posted and expected commissions in one table.
  • Broken out by carrier and by product.
  • Each line ties back to the policy that generated it.
  • Filter and sort by carrier, product, status, or date.

Rollups + forecast

MTD and YTD rollups with a 30-day forward estimate.

The ledger rolls up to month-to-date and year-to-date totals so you know where the year stands without exporting anything. Alongside them, a forward estimate projects the next 30 days from the expected commissions already on your book. It is an estimate, not a promise of income.

  • Month-to-date and year-to-date totals.
  • A forward estimate for the next 30 days.
  • The estimate is built from the expected commissions on your book and depends on the data you enter.
  • Totals update as policies and payouts post.

Expected commissions

Projections derived from the policies you've written.

Expected-commission lines are projected from the policies already in your book - the carrier, product, and premium on each one. You don't enter them by hand. As policies are added, updated, or imported, the projections follow. They are estimates built from the data you enter and the commission rules you set.

  • Derived from the policies in your book of business.
  • Projections update as the policy data changes.
  • Tracks the carrier, product, and premium on each policy.
  • Recalculated as the book data changes.

Payouts + reporting

Track each payout from write to deposit, then report on it.

Follow a commission from the day the policy is written through to the deposit, so you can see what's outstanding and what has cleared. The same ledger data feeds the reporting views - exports, persistency, funnel, and cohorts - built from the same data, so reports and the ledger agree with each other. They do not replace your carrier statements.

  • Payout tracking from write to deposit.
  • See what's outstanding versus what has cleared.
  • Exports, persistency, funnel, and cohort views.
  • Reporting reads off the same ledger data you maintain.
